Release Notes: Improvements to Features and Integrations

We’ve been quite busy on the product/engineering side of things since my last update in February. We’ve given you more room in Tout, fixed bugs and improved our experience in Salesforce, Outlook AND Gmail. It’s amazing what can be accomplished with a little caffeine and some eclectic tunes (like David Bowie, Justin Bieber and Dropkick Murphys. And ok, ok, maybe just a little Kanye).

Read on to to learn about improvements.

ToutApp.com:

Powdering our nose:

  • We cleaned up the help menu to only give you what you need:
    • Tout University: The go-to site for tips, tricks and FAQs
    • Ask a Question form: Need best practices? Something seems off? Fill out this form and our happiness team will get back to you ASAP
    • Talk to Sales form: Need to add another seat to your account? Want to upgrade? Answer a few quick questions and sales will be in touch
  • New updated Favicon (the little image on the top of the browser tab) to be our current logo (helloooo 2016)
  • We added more room for activities by removing our footer across all pages in ToutApp.com
  • We removed the default dynamic fields in your email signature for first-time customers, to save some time in getting set up

Campaigns:

  • Some of you experienced throttling when your Campaign had multiple steps and the second email step was scheduled to go out at midnight. Moving forward this will not be an issue
  • Shared Campaigns are now editable by Master Admins (in addition to Team Admins). Teammates will not be able to edit a shared Campaign unless they have Admin status

Signatures and Templates:

  • Formatting(bulleted and numbered lists, text alignment etc.) were not saving on templates when the email was being sent. Now all formatting made through the text editor will show correctly when editing, as well as post-saving
  • Your email signature will now dynamically change when you toggle between identities in the Compose window in ToutApp.com
  • Any adjustment to image size in the image uploader (in either templates or in your email signature) will be saved to your desired size

Analytics:

  • You should see the Template name for your “Most Engaging Templates” in “Me” analytics instead of the subject line

CSV:

  • If you are on a plan with group limits, some of you may have experienced an issue when uploading a CSV with empty values. We now handle this case for CSV uploads.

Sales Gong:

  • Some customers were experiencing 500 errors when ringing the Sales Gong, but no more!

Integrations:

CRM:

  • Tout engagement events (view, click, reply, website visits, etc.) now consistently push to Marketo if you have the integration connected
  • With Salesforce Sync Override, new user added to a subscription should be able to connect to Salesforce via BCC or API and have their activity log
  • Non-Enterprise customers can now log their activity to Salesforce via API (if their subscription of Salesforce has that capability)
  • You can now email contacts with apostrophe’s in their email address when using the Email with Tout button in Salesforce or the blue Tout envelop (via the Chrome extension)

Gmail:

  • You can now successfully use the “Add Email to Salesforce” button in the read view of your inbox if that lead or contact exists in Salesforce

ToutApp for Outlook introduces Advanced Email and Presentation Tracking

Today, we’re announcing Version 2.0 of ToutApp for Outlook. With it, you get a rock solid battled-tested plugin that adds Tout email tracking, templates and our newly introduced presentation tracking to Outlook versions spanning from 2007 to 2013.

Watch the Video Overview

How is it battle tested?

Since releasing our Outlook plugin last year, we’ve been hard at work working with customers across major enterprises spanning Outlook versions 2007 to 2013 and Windows versions XP, 7 and even Windows 8.

Tout already offers you the most advanced email and templating in the sales communications space, and today we’re happy to announce support for presentation tracking right from inside of Outlook.

Why Tout for Outlook?

For those of you unfamiliar with Tout or email tracking in general, Tout’s sales communications platform plugs into Outlook, Gmail, and your CRM to help solve these key problems in your day-to-day sales process:

  1. Not knowing what happens to your important sales emails after hitting “Send.”
  2. Constantly jumping back and forth from your Outlook into your CRM having to manually upadate your sales communications.
  3. Having to constantly re-attach files, or re-write the same emails over, and over, and over.

Key Features

  1. Email and presentation tracking with real-time feed: You know when your email is opened, links are clicked, presentations are viewed down to the page and even when someone replies. See who is engaging with your emails as it happens right from Outlook so you can manage your time and follow up effectively.
  2. Customizable templates. Write emails faster with saved templates. You can also draft an email up on the fly and save it as a template. Bonus – add a trackable attachment just as you’re about to send the email.
  3. Auto-update your CRM. Forgot to update your CRM? No need to include a BCC or hop into your contact record. Tout auto updates your CRM once you send your email.

To get started with ToutApp for Outlook, you can download the latest version here.

User of the Week: Owen uses ToutApp for Customer Development

Our featured User of the Week entry comes from Owen McGab Enaohwo, Co-founder of SweetProcess. Every week or so, we'll profile a different person who uses our app to improve their email productivity. If you would like to be featured in the future, you can apply here.

My co-founders and I are working on a webapp called SweetProcess that will make it easy for entrepreneurs to scale their businesses by helping them quickly and easily create Standard Operating Procedures for their businesses. Our process will allow everyone on their team to know exactly what to do in any given situation and they can make use of the SOPs to deliver a consistent level of results to their customers.

Right now we are in the process of creating a Minimum Viable Product for SweetProcess. Before jumping straight into coding, we decided to call potential customers and interview them to find the burning problems that they have with documenting how processes work in their businesses and the exact solutions they want from a software.

My email process involves sending an email to a list of prospects in my field and having them click a link to answer a simple three-question survey. ToutApp’s analytics let me know who is interested in and who has completed the survey. From there, I have the opportunity to follow up and prioritize my recipients based on who appears to be showing interest. For example, those who complete the survey then get a phone call where we can drill into the problem and the solutions that they want from the SweetProcess software.

ToutApp’s templates, tracking, and follow-up mechanisms help me get my emails done faster and more intelligently. At the end of the day, these features help me stay in touch with everyone, from my initial outreach to my next follow-up to the final phone call.

User of the Week: ToutApp gains lifetime fans from BabyList

Every week or so, we'll profile a different person who uses our app to improve their email productivity. If you would like to be featured in the future, you can apply here.

I spearhead marketing and PR initiatives for BabyList. We provide expectant moms the ability to add items from any store to one universal baby registry – it's just as easy to use as Pinterest. BabyList is currently a part of an accelerator program and one of our main goals is to increase user sign-ups. We have a niche target market of pregnant women so we are constantly thinking of creative ways to reach them.

We LOVE ToutApp because it provides us greater insight to how the editors and influencers we are contacting are responding to BabyList. Our emails typically contain several links so we are able to gauge where people are clicking…and what they are interested in. And, at the very least, we'll know that they viewed our emails and how frequently.

Recently, I noticed one email I sent was viewed 27 times – I just knew that the recipient was interested and would respond soon. And, sure enough, she did!

We have just started using ToutApp and are already fast fans. I'm sure as we start drilling into the additional bells and whistles that Tout offers, we'll be lifetime fans.

User of the Week: Dawoon Kang from Coffee Meets Bagel

I am the COO of Coffee Meets Bagel, a new social dating site where a 'Gilt Groupe' style daily deal meets online dating. Every day at noon, we match our members with one single who is their friend-of-friends. Members have 24 hours to “Like” or “Pass” their match, with two “Likes” resulting in a first date.

Our team is very small so we work fluidly but I mainly head the team's marketing effort.

A large part of my job entails building relationships with lots of potential partners and influencers in relevant industries. This involves a significant amount of cold-calling and emailing. I use ToutApp to hone my email title, messaging, and play with things here and there to increase the response/engagement rate. I love how I can track when and how many times the receiver views the email, clicks the link etc.

As a single in my late 20s, it's super fun working in the dating industry and in a product I absolutely LOVE to use myself! Part of my job entails socializing with many singles in the city at fun events and talking to them about their dating lives :) I feel so lucky to have this job.

User of the Week: Eric Wu from Bracket Labs

I'm one of the founders of Bracket Labs. We're a Boulder, CO startup building enterprise software apps for the Salesforce AppExchange. Our apps are TaskRay and Campaign Calendar, and together they're helping thousands of sales and marketing people around the world work more productively in Salesforce.

We're a small company, so as a founder I wear a lot of different hats. One of my primary roles is sales, so I spend a lot of time talking to customers who have found our apps through the AppExchange and are looking for more information so they can make a purchase.

I love ToutApp for three big reasons:

1) It helps me do more faster! We have a set of emails we send to new leads to help them understand the apps and determine whether there's a good fit for their team.

ToutApp has allowed me to send (and schedule) my emails in a way that has reduced my time per lead by about 30%.

2) The ability to deliver nicely formatted, trackable follow-up email responses from within the Salesforce Leads tab but sent from my own email address (rather than Salesforce's mailer) is great because I don't always trust the deliverability of the Salesforce mailer.

3) The Live Feed of activity on my sent emails is awesome and gives me new insight on customer engagement with my emails. I can prioritize my follow-ups based on their activity and interest level, timely response to an engaged customer is a big part of showing them you're paying attention and you are ready to help.

Every other week, we'll profile a different person who uses our app to improve their email productivity. If you would like to be featured in the future, you can apply here.
